I've been
told that Verdi, who wrote his version of Othello, was going
to call it IAGO, but changed his mind. My version of this Shakespeare
masterpiece will be called IAGO. I have made this fascinating,
evil, and envious character not only very witty, but the motivating
force that drives the whole story. I'm hoping you wil be repulsed
and at the same time amused by his amoral character. This is
a story that has as its central theme, how jealousy can destory
all who fall prey to that green-eyed lizard. It is perhaps a
most greaves faults in the character of all mankind. I'm guessing
Shakespeare must have fallen under its spell more than once.
Despite the brilliance of the story, there has never been a
successful operatic version in English.
