This aria is from Act one, Scene two of the most famous works of Shakespeare.
Naturally, it is my adaptation of the most famous speech in the
English, "To be or not to Be".
No writer since Shakespeare has been able to synthesize such lofty
concepts regarding the mystery of life and death and the beyond
in so few words. Note that this great work of art has never been successfully created in opera form, in any language.
yes, there have been several attempts, but all dismal failures...
failures because there has never been a marriage of composer and
librettist that have been able to plumb the depths of the drama
and give the music flights of angles to carry it away.
This is our attempt to do that.
