A
historical drama that has been copied and adapted more than any
of Shakespeare's works because its plot is truly universal to
every culture. Too much power corrupts and absolute power, corrupts
absolutely. Examples abound from Caesar to Napoleon to Hitler
to Noriega to Sadam Husein to George Bush. Each in his own way,
justifies his desire to be king and then spends most of his time
trying to solidify his precarious position by any means. It's
an old story but still relevant.
